The Work Experience Girl

If you're not watching Black Doves on Netflix...I don't know what you're doing with your life. No, seriously.

Quick rundown, Keira Knightley portrays Helen Webb, a Black Dove. The Black Doves are spies who harvest intel and sell it to the highest bidder. Helen is married to a politician who doesn't know who she really is, so she's comfortably collected secrets for the past ten years.

There are a host of other wackier, much more interesting, and blessedly queer characters like Sam (Ben Whishaw), a gay triggerman pining for his ex, and the infamous lesbian triggerwomen No-First-Name Williams (Ella Lily Hyland) and Eleanor No-Last-Name (Elizabeth Creevey). Isabella Wei portrays Kai-Ming Chen, the heroin-addicted daughter of the recently slain Chinese Ambassador to Britain (she's also gonna be in Bridgerton Season Four!!!!).

Heads up, the script could've been a lot better, and I think it will be since it's already been renewed for a second season. Black Doves is highly bingeable and addictive, and the characters are instantly loveable.

Which is why I would LOVE to do a fanfiction, if I only I wasn't a much older, much busier, and more easily tired woman now than when I first started this blog. But I can dream, right? And be funny about it too, right?

Inspired by the character Dani (Agnes O'Casey), The Work Experience Girl would follow the adventures of Nina Caylor, a new recruit in the Black Doves placed in a most unlikely location.

Priah Ferguson as Nina Caylor

Nina is a poli sci major at West Virginia State University. Just when she's considering dropping out and moving across states, she meets Ms. Mary, who recruits her into the Black Doves and assigns her to the Capitol in Charleston, in the office of Michael Lee.

Marsai Martin as Brittany Miller

A former prom queen and head cheerleader, Brittany is everything Nina was not. Now she's an economics student interning in the same office as Nina.

Kiernan Shipka as Melody Sharpe

An assistant in the same office as Nina and Brittany, Melody is older and a poli sci graduate who lives in front of her ring light and aspires to be a political influencer.

BigKlit as Sanchez (no first name)

Sanchez is a triggerwoman and Nina's new roommate.

Brittney Spencer as Ms. Mary

Ms. Mary runs the Black Doves in Appalachia where, apparently, there's more political intrigue happening than people realize.

with John Corbett as Michael Lee

One of the very few Democratic members of the West Virginian Senate, Michael supplements his meager salary by practicing law. As such, he's hardly ever actually in the office, leaving his daily affairs to his staff.

Special Appearance by Brad Dourif as Mr. Higgins

While Ms. Mary finds recruits (and pulls their strings), the mysterious Mr. Higgins helps train them.

Jennifer Garner as Sandra Lee

Might as well throw in Jennifer Garner as something, seeing as she's another West Virginian actor. She could be Michael's wife.
